How were the Thanksgiving meals? (from my photostream)

Dear readers, sorry I wasn’t around in the past FIVE days (wow! I’m really sorry.)

I was away in Chicago. BUT now, I am BACK!

Looking for the spot

24 11 2007

the spot?
(from my photostream)

In my mind, I always think everyone should have a spot where they can either sit comfortably to study, read a book or just take a break.

With 4 days to go, I’m still looking for that spot to study for GRE.

Feel the Holiday’s Coming

(from my photostream)

As the holiday comes along, we start hearing Christmasy music, lights and decorations.
Today we had dinner at T.G.I Fridays, their cups and plates were ready for Christmas too. :)

T.G.I – Thanksgiving Break!

17 11 2007

(from my Photostream)

College Mall, the only shopping mall in Bloomington host the only T.G.I.F restaurant in town. Won’t say its the best, but I do like their sweetening sauce.

This is the weekend before the Thanksgiving break (hence, thanking God!).
The best part is, no school or work Monday or Tuesday. And on Wednesday – Chicago! :)
I enjoy the sunset after a day of wedding photo-shoot.

Practice Room’s Magic Fingers

16 11 2007

(from my Photostream)

Music students spent hours practicing in cubicle-like rooms apart from writing and reading music-related papers. And just like this fingers moving across the strings at breakneck pace for hours at one time. Like people say, 1% talent and 99% hardwork. Certainly so with all the music students I have met so far.

Natural Coloring Book

15 11 2007

(from my Photostream)

The colors of the trees, plants and skies have reached their richest and most beautiful (I think) primary colors. It’s like painting without tinting or adding any whites, but just Red, Yellow and Blue. Just love it. :)

One thing that I really appreciate of Bloomington (Indiana) over other cities that I have lived in before (Hangzhou, Singapore, Seattle) is its very distinctive seasons. Spring is green and cooling (not cold), Summer is yellow and hot (not warm), Fall is sometimes days-long, but when its normal, its red and cooling (again, not chilly – I’m running out of vocabularies here), and finally Winter is bare and white and cold – truly winter.

Even though there’s only one College Mall, and seven Starbucks (yeah, like that’s not enough), the town’s beauty cannot be used to compare with that of city skyscrapers (such as the one that China is building right now; see it here and read it here or even watch it here) because its different.

Is a green apple more appealing, or a white (even black) one? I’d like to have both. :D

I love geography

14 11 2007

(from my photostream)

The school’s geography department held a geographic information system (GIS) display in the main lobby of the Herman B Wells Library. The display consists of art work done on ‘Indiana’ and a load of satellite images of Indiana and of course Bloomington. There are also antique maps of Bloomington and Monroe County (one of the county in the state of Indiana).

That sculpture is of late Herman B Wells, former president and chancellor of the Indiana University. You may look up more about him on the probably-more-accurate Wikipedia.

Weather forecast – today’s temperature: 62 degrees Fahrenheit. I know.

It’s still… Fall?

13 11 2007

(from my photostream)

By now we’d assume to get the cold weather that we are so often used to. After a few cold fronts up here in the Midwest, North Face probably had some revenue jittery. Midway into November, we are still getting good ol’ 50s, and even frequently 60s. With no harsh wind blowing at them or cold air freezing them, the flowers are having their ‘7th-inning’ blossoming.

I could already hear cries of Global Warming, but checking up on weather.com, there wasn’t any unusual weather report, so I assume this is all still quite normal? Or preparation for a much worse winter? Pray for the first.

Jacob School of Music

12 11 2007

(from Photostream)

The Jacob School of Music is one of the top music school in the world, not just for the talent that it have and produced but also for its massive size (1,600 students) as a music school.

Lucky for the locals, including residents, students and faculties, Jacob School of Music ensures up to 1,100 (no kidding) of free musical events, ranging student and faculty recitals to formal concerts per semester. And with top notch faculties, the Indiana University Jacob School of Music continue to attract music students from near and far.

Kudos to IUJSM! (don’t you just love them acronyms!) :)
